The Skin Makeover Edition by Nix & Tee

Everyone’s skin needs a makeover, and needs to be taken care of, however the task can seem daunting and only fit for a reality tv programme if you don’t know where to start. Assuming you want all the tadaaaa without all the lights-camera-action, then we present to you The Skin Makeover Edition by Nix & Tee.

At Nix & Tee we offer our clients tailored skin solutions that address all their concerns in a relaxed and private environment. Whether it’s pigmentation, fine lines, scarring, breakouts or persistent redness we can help. While many makeover shows probably follow a more is more approach, we prefer gentler and more gradual treatment plans that require less downtime and addresses your concerns holistically. We find that the results are more maintainable and lasting this way. Here are three of the biggest skin concerns many of our clients struggle with and some of our preferred treatment plans to give your skin the make-over it needs. Our treatment packages are personalised and tailored to each individual needs.

The Problem: Pigmentation

Also known as melasma, hyper-pigmentation or sun spots; pigmentation is a concern that plagues most South Africans. It can be brought on by hormonal changes, excessive sun exposure or inflammation caused by injury. This skin concern can be especially tricky to treat as the real damage often lies in the deeper layers of the skin. “Skincare products can be helpful in limiting further damage, but often medical aesthetic treatments are more successful in treating pigmentation both on the surface and in the dermis where the problem starts”, says Turid.

The Solution: Chemical Resurfacing & IPL Therapy

After a thorough consultation and skin analysis using our Skin Scanner, we are able to customise the correct treatment plan for your skin. Chemical Resurfacing and IPL Therapy are two treatment options that when used in combination address pigmentation on all levels. A series of light Chemical Resurfacing treatments can help to lift the superficial discolouration, while Intense Pulsed Light is used to address pigmentation in the deeper layers of the skin. The light and heat generated by the IPL break up the clusters of pigments which is then naturally exfoliated or filtered out through the body

Treatments required: It depends on the severity of your pigmentation.

Superficial peels can be done monthly as part of a healthy skincare routine and to maintain a healthy glow while also addressing specific skin concerns such as fine lines or problematic skin. Deep peels may require down time and only two to three treatments a year are recommended. The advised chemical resurfacing treatment is recommended only after a thorough consultation and analysis of the client’s skin and personal needs

Chemical Resurfacing can be used to treat the following concerns:

  • Dullness
  • Uneven Skin Tone
  • Scarring
  • Problematic Skin
  • Fine Lines
  • Pigmentation

LED Therapy & Chemical Resurfacing

At Nix & Tee we combine LED ( Light Emitting Diode) Therapy and Chemical Resurfacing. The white and blue light soothes, calms and kills bacteria while the light chemical exfoliation sloughs off dead skin and assists in repairing the skin’s natural barrier. We’ll also assist our clients with putting together a gentle but soothing skincare routine to further improve and maintain results.

 The Problem: Loss of firmness

Sagging skin creeps up on us over time. Excessive sun exposure can certainly accelerate the loss of firmness in the skin but the main cause for this concern is just regular ol’ ageing. Collagen and elastin fibres that are responsible for keeping the skin bouncy and tight start to wear out and our body stops producing as much of it as it once did in our 20’s. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) levels also start to decrease and the skin starts to appear less plump and hydrated.

The Solution: Skin Needing & Skin Boosting

What we need to do is go deeper into the skin where we can stimulate healthy collagen and elastin production. “We can achieve good results with both Needling and Skin boosting, when treatments are combined, we achieve much improved long-term results on various levels,” explains Nicolette. The needling stimulates healthy collagen and elastin production while Skin boosting are clinically proven to address the following concerns:

Maintain hydration within in the skin, Increase skin elasticity and give firmer skin Smooth and soften skin Reduce fine lines  Lessen imperfections, such as acne scars Giving an overall glow to the skin.

Treatments required: We’ll assess the skin to determine exactly how many treatments are required but to kick-start healthy collagen and elastin production and boost hydration, a series of four to six treatments are required.

Nix & Tee reserve the right to refuse treatment if it should be dangerous or is not in the welfare of the client. Should we feel at any time that your skin requires more intensive treatments, we will recommend you see a Dermatologist or Medical Practitioner to determine which treatment should be prescribed.
