Dermablend Pro, the professional camouflage makeup company that makes high-coverage makeup products for those who need it, just came out with an impressive and touching new ad campaign called Camo Confessions that encourages people to embrace their imperfections.
Using the tagline, “We all have something to cover. Let’s TAKE IT OFF. Together.,” the campaign features confessional videos from Cassandra, a model and YouTube makeup artist with severe acne; Cheri, a young woman living with vitiligo; and Rico, aka “Zombie Boy,” whose whole body is covered head to toe in tattoos.
Each confessional details how that person felt signaled out for the way they look, and how using makeup helped them blend in. But in recognizing that the way we look has no affect on who we are inside, Cassandra and Cheri and Rico all remove their makeup in an empowering gesture that exhibits this fact to the public.
With great stories like those of Cassandra, Cheri, and Rico, it’s hard not to be inspired. Dermablend is hoping the campaign goes viral–it’s already started to–and is encouraging their followers to make personal Camo Confessions, which they are gathering and displaying both on YouTube and on their site here.
Check out Cheri’s story below, we found it particularly moving, and head over to the Camo Confessions homepage to experience the rest of the campaign. We applaud this effort to remind us that beauty comes from the inside! Way to go, Dermablend Pro.
